4yo only wees and poos in nappy

Hello,

Our 4yo daughter has had a history of stool withholding and we are thankfully now out the other side. However due to the stool withholding we were late to potty train her as we didn't want to risk a relapse.

We are now in a manageable place where she wears pants most of the time but asks for a pull up when she needs to go (wee or poo). She then sits on the toilet with the pull-up on to go, we change her and she's puts her pants back on. As she is starting school in September, I'd really like her to lose the pull-ups (at least for wees) however she gets very upset when I mention it.

We have tried the hole in the nappy method, but as soon as she is aware of the hole she does not want to go. Treats and rewards don't seem to work, and she doesn't seem bothered that her baby sister is starting to potty train and will soon be losing her nappies.

Is there anything else we could try? Or should I just be patient and trust she will lose the pull-ups when she's ready? I've seen a lot of other messages about children that only poo in nappy but I can't see anything about children that only wee in a nappy as well.

She sounds very in control both of herself and of you.

What happens if you refuse to give her a pullup? That would be the most logical solution would be to stop giving her them completely and battle though her being uncomfortable for a week or two learning to use the toilet without them, especially if the hole in the nappy route hasn't worked for her.

Or if she's more comfortable possibly try going back a step to using a potty, again without pullups.

If you're afraid she will just withold if you take away the pullups then try to make them less appealing to her, make her wait 5 minutes before she can have one on, after giving her the option of the potty or toilet first.

If she does get one and only wets in it make her wear a while before you change her back to pants, say 10 or 15 mins, long enough for it to feel wet and uncomfortable, and hopefully that will discourage her from asking for them and encourage her to use the toilet without them.

Best to do it in the holidays keep her out of the pull ups. Do the potty/toilet game with a couple dolls/bears we also bought a toilet step/seat that folded up which helped. Music can help and my girls have a fidget toy in bathroom,for only the bathroom. 10 minuites 3/4 songs no more pull ups. If she see's what you do she should copy you. Put a pair of knickers on a bear she can teach her bear which should help her.
