Has anyone had allergy/intolerance testing to get a reason to what is causing the constipation? My doctors keep telling us she will grow out of it and to keep giving her laxido sodium phosphate and senikot which is no longer working

Allergy testing
Food elimination is the most reliable way to identify such issues.
Oh and don't waste your money on allergy tests nhs.uk/conditions/food-alle...
hi - we did an intolerance test about 2 years ago when I was completely at my wits end. We had eliminated dairy… no difference. We had eliminated various wheat/gluten etc … no difference. My husband was convinced there was a diet link as it always got worse when we were on holiday or out for dinner and found this online test where you send off for a package and then return samples. It was a hair strand test that cost about £35 and it came back with a list of red and amber foods that it suggested strong and medium intolerances for. The top one was pork. We cut it out and whilst there was no magic change overnight this was definitely the start of us managing to win the battle against constipation. We did six months straight of no pork and then she ate a sausage and she was in agony with tummy ache so we have kept it up since, bar the odd bit at parties etc. I have scoured the internet for a link between pork and constipation and there is nothing! I’m sure it’s not the only factor for us in why my daughter struggled so much (she’s doing so well now, but it has been a LONG journey) but this made such a difference. I’ll dig out the name of the company for you xxx

My son suffered from the age of 6 months and I was told there was definitely no link with diet. He also has bladder issues, mouth ulcers and joint pain.
I asked so many times over the years about links with food and was always told there wasn’t one. Fast forward to when he was 11 and I pushed harder, he tested negative on all the tests the doctor sent him for, including coeliac. After an endoscopy last year which again showed nothing I took him off gluten (had previously tried dairy with no effect) and he is loads better. Pretty much all symptoms gone.
I had already suspected it was gluten as he was a lot worse when we increased it for the coeliac test.
The dietician told me a lot of people struggle with wheat due to modern farming methods and a reduction in different types of grain.
Good luck - it was a long road for us and I was told so many times over the years that this just happened and he would grow out of it.
