Hi All đIm new to the group. Im struggling to help my daughter. She says she canât really tell when she has to go #2. I have a hard time understanding that and find myself getting frustrated with her. She will use the bathroom and come out smelling like poop. When I question her she says shes clean and wipped good but she will have some in her bottomâŠUnfortunately thats not all of it she will come home from school with poo in her panties, I find dirty panties hidden in her room . I have talked with her about it and tried to help by putting her on probiotics and even use stool softeners to help with constipation. She will do well for a while and then go right back. I was hoping she would grow out of it and maybe it was a stage. I am now thinking she my have something more going on????? Possibly Encopresis???

There is lots of information that you may find helpful on the Bladder & Bowel UK website at bbuk.org.uk/bowel-resources/ The leaflet that may be most useful at this stage is the one at bbuk.org.uk/wp-content/uplo...
my 7yo is exactly the same. She came off Laxido 2 months ago and they think she may now have a lazy bowel. She is not constipated. She was always wet and runny on the sachets so she has never known what itâs like to go to the toilet properly. I get frustrated with her sometimes as she can go and itâs really soft so I know it doesnât hurt. Iâve tried reflexology which I think helped with regularity, but I am now looking for a counsellor to see if that helps. Good luck
Sounds like youâre on a good track to finding something that works. Im happy to finally have an outlet to share resources and gain knowledge on these issues. I had a breakdown yesterday because she cries and says she doesnât know why it keeps happening and she is Embarrassed đ itâs hard as a parent to watch your child sufferâŠ
We are the same situation with my 8 year old, and will be doing another disimpaction again after going through one at the beginning of the year. She is currently on a maintenance dose of 1 sachet of Laxido a day, but have had a lot of leaks the last couple of months and my daughter says she canât tell.
So sorry you are going through this, itâs hard not to get frustrated sometimes and it never seems to end. Itâs harder when they are older as they try and hide it.
The info posted above by Yaleamanda is very useful.
ï»żsounds like she needs to be disimpacted, we have found once she has had a clear out, we stopped using movicol and went on to 5ml of lactulose a day along side a fibre sachet from holland and barret. This seems to have worked really well for us and she now feels the sensation of needing a poo where with movicol she didn't
ï»żmy 9 Yr old g/daughter has been like this since she was 2. We have a hospital consultant who is great. Last really bad bout she wS on softener at night and 12 sachets of laxative for over a week. Meant we were house bound! Hospital paediatric ward have been supportive too. Haven't had a bad bout for a while, but takes a maintenance doze everyday.
