6 YO suddenly wetting all the time

Hi all, looking for some advice and reassurance. My 6 year old girl has suddenly started wetting herself both during the day and at night time. Sometimes she does ‘the jig’ as we call it but other times she seems to just go and not tell anyone until she goes off to the toilet some time later.

We keep trying to ask questions and she just replies with ‘I don’t know’ so it’s really tricky to understand what’s going on with her.

The thing we are finding hardest to get our heads around is that it has come on very suddenly and quite intensely and she doesn’t seem to do it at school. Weekends are awful as she doesn’t reach the toilet 90% of the time.

Any suggestions? I have a GP appointment booked for later this week. Thank you 😊

Constipation! The guilty culprit until proved otherwise. When did the wetting start. Is she using the toilets at school? How much is she drinking during the day? Could she have a uti?

If it's started suddenly then there's a good chance she has a urine infection or UTI.

Although it's strange that it's not affecting her at school, does your daughter have a past history of daytime wetting or bedwetting?

Hi there, the first thing to rule out is a UTi, then think about constipation which is a major cause of wetting because the full bowel squeezes the bladder and it can't fill as much as it should. It can cause urgency and wetting. eric.org.uk/advice-for-chil...
