My daughter is nearly 4 - she has a history of chronic constipation - for well over a year - takes movical regularly - is passing soft stools but sometimes she goes without one for days. Been referred to a paediatrician as I read about this in some clinical guidelines. Delayed toilet training due to the fear she had from going on the potty or toilet. Now attempting as receiving little help from GP or H/V. She will sit on a potty and I reward and am very positive- she wears trainer pants, if she wears knickers she holds her wee. She is really anxious about emptying her wee into anything other than her trainer pants. I am waiting for the referral for a long time - are there any tips or suggestions for this type of anxiety or books I can purchase? Anyone else had this type of situation? I will be happy to hear from you, Thank you.

Potty training problems
Hello, we’ve recently retrained our 4.5 year old after terrible constipation and withholding and found that an entire naked weekend really helped. T-shirt but no pants and didn’t say a thing. Totally handed the decision to him so we didn’t get in another power struggle. We said things like - they’re your wees and poos, we know you will put them in the potty when you’re ready. And we said things like ‘naughty wee coming out too quick!’ - so blamed the wee and poo rather than him. We still have a long journey but definitely saw an improvement. The photo is a few books we found helpful. Best of luck!
Sorry i wish i could help, my younger daughter copies her 5 year old sister. She has no fear or problems with the toilet. You can get a step and seat to help to fit so she's not scared of falling down. Take everything off, let her run about with nothing on.
