Disimpaction complete?

Ok so I’m currently disimpacting my 6 year old daughter and I just want to ask a question about the rusty tea style poo... should the rusty tea poo be coming out in a big quantity? Because I think we’re at that stage but it’s just small amounts of it leaking out into her knickers. Whereas when she was having the overflow soiling, it was very dark and gritty and smelled awful! Thanks

Once you have seen rusty water looking stools for three consecutive days, you can start reducing down. Its not the quantity you are after but consistency over a period of time.

Thank you 😃

Interested in the replies to this as we have exactly the same issue. Was dark and in large quantities before (soiling) but now light and like tea stains but not much in terms of quantity on the loo. Sorry if too much info! I don’t know whether to carry on or start reducing. It’s been like this for 3 days now. I had expected more rushing to the loo scenarios...

Hi! I thought there would’ve been more explosive results especially as my daughter is on a stimulant laxative as well! So, we’ve had leaking watery rusty tea poo and now today there’s little soft lumps of rusty tea coloured poop coming out as well. also, it’s all coming out into her knickers - I’m not sure if she’s doing this on purpose and avoiding using the loo because she thinks that poo accidents = time off school. Based on the colour of the poop, I’m pretty sure she’s no longer impacted and these tea coloured lumps must be new poo! She’s also got her appetite back 😀 so I’m hoping we’re nearly there with getting this resolved. However, I’m not convinced the whole process won’t start again.. think it’s likely she’ll start with holding again 😩

It’s bizarre how it’s still soiling and not in the loo isn’t it? I had assumed that once the disimpaction was complete that the soiling would stop but perhaps it takes time for things to settle down. I was ready to start reducing down the sachets but now my daughter hasn’t been to the loo since Friday so I’m at a loss again! Argh...

Oh it’s so difficult to know what to do for the best isn’t it. Well, I spoke too soon because today we’ve had a bit more of an explosive result.. not sure whether it’s because of the medicine or if it’s because I let her try some pitted dates and she had quite a few yesterday.. we first tried disimpacting in the Easter holidays and didn’t get to the rusty tea stage but I didn’t know anything about disimpacting at that point! That time, she had a couple of big bowel movements and the overflow soiling stopped instantly and she was pooing daily for the next four days but then it wasn’t long before we back at square one. Think I started reducing too much too soon 😩

Interesting! I’ve got some dates in and prune juice and syrup of figs (!) but wasn’t sure what to use alongside the Movicol and Senna in case all too much...we’re still on the 8 sachets (Day 15) as terrified to reduce down too soon and undo any good work but also worried that it should have happened by now if going to...
