My ten year old son
Your son has probably lost the feeling of needing to go to the toilet if he's constipated. The full bowel will be pressing on his bladder I expect. He needs to be disimpacted and a toilet routine put in place.
Constipation is a long term health condition that isn't sorted out over a few weeks.
I would disimpact with Movicol etc and see what happens from there. What drugs is he on?
Hes on lactose and movical do u know if there any way can get him referred to the hospital
The school nurse should be able to help. My sons school nurse referred us to our local incontinence service.
To get referred to a Paediatrician you'd need to go through your GP.
Have you tried calling the ERIC helpline? They are great at giving advice and helping out.
Do you have a local Paediatric Continence Nurse? Our Paediatrician was useless and I ended up discharging my son. The Paediatric Continence Nurse was amazing. My youngest has been on Movicol for nearly 2 years and we've never looked back.
Hi there, just to say that I have a 10 year old son, who wets during the day (not full wees just lots of leaks) and fully wees overnight whilst he is asleep. He did have constipation issues too but we have managed to get that under control at the moment, so you're not on your own and this is no one's fault, it's a medical condition, but there are things you can do to help. We did a disimpaction over the summer (our first) to clear out his bowels and start fresh and he is on a maintenance dose of 4 sachets of Movicol a day to ensure he has one soft bowel movement every day (that's the aim). The disimpaction helped improve his bladder capacity, but made no difference to his bladder control, so we have now started Solafenacin to help his bladder and we have noticed some improvement (although I don't know yet if this will be enough). My son has a healthy high fibre diet, drinks lots of water, gets lots of exercise, but he has to wear Tena for Men pads in his boxers during the day and Drynites every night and suffers with tummy pains. My best advice is to INSIST that your GP refers your son to a Bowel and Bladder Clinic (or a Continence Nurse if you don't have a Bowel and Bladder clinic in your area). The nurses at the Bowel and Bladder clinic's are experts in this field and are (in my opinion) the best help you can get for your son. The ERIC website/helpline is good too. We found that GP's and Paediatrician's were not able to help at all. Good luck
