My son is 8 and has a suspected overactive bladder, he is always damp during the day and has a full pull up at night. We have been asked to complete a weekly bladder diary but he finds it difficult to remember to complete this particularly at school when we are not there to remind him. School are very supportive but he is embarrassed and doesn't want to involve them.
Any suggestions about how we can help him to remember to write down when he wees and drinks? We have given him a easy sheet to write it down on but he just doesn't remember.
Thanks

Could you just wait until half term as it is easier when they aren’t at school?
If you can’t then I suggest being super on it at home and guesstimating the rest. They are mainly looking to see whether he is wee—ing out everything he is drinking or withholding, how often he is desperate and whether he is wet.
When I have done them in the past the bladder one is only over two days so we have done it at the weekend and the bowel one is over a week.
Unfortunately that is what we have done previously, however we are now being asked to complete the bladder diary for a week at a time, as none of the usual solutions are working. Guesstimates aren't cutting it anymore!
Thanks for your thoughts as I as m really open to all suggestions.
Hello - we also had to complete a bladder diary for an overactive bladder but were asked only to complete at home/over the weekends and just record how much water had been drunk from the water bottle during school hours. To ask the child to complete the diary at school seems quite unrealistic. As the other response said, may be try over half term for the week? The bladder diary itself definitely highlighted the issue for us so worth sticking with it. Good luck!
