Hi, my name is James Parkin and I had soiling problems as a child. I often avoided going to the toilet when I needed to poo and messed my pants as a result. This carried on until I was 11. My withholding habit also meant that I suffered from constipation and bad stomach aches at times.
At the time I felt very alone with my problem and thought that I was the only school-aged child in the whole world who still pooed his pants. I sometimes felt that I was babyish and disgusting, and I often got told off and shouted at for soiling myself.
I now understand that many children of all ages have similar problems to what I have. To try to help them feel less alone I have written two books, called A Boy Like You and A Girl Like You. These are designed for children aged 6 to 12 years old who soil their pants. Many parents have found them useful for helping to start a conversation with their child about their problems and encourage them to try to use the toilet.
The books are available in paperback from ERIC, and for the Kindle and Kindle apps from Amazon. For full details please see my website:
