How can I get my 5 year old to wee on the toilet? He just holds it and holds until we put a nappy on for bed and sometimes he is dry on a night

Hello

Good drinking (6-8 cups of water based fluid) spread throughout the day can help the bladder to function properly and being able to relax on the toilet helps children to fully empty. For more information and techniques on helping children who refuse to wee or poo on the toilet please visit eric.org.uk and search 'children who only poo in a nappy and other toilet avoiders'. Or if you would like to contact Eric's free Helpline and speak to one of our advisors on 0845 370 8008 Mon - Thurs 10.00am – 2.00pm / helpline@eric.org.uk we will be happy to talk to you in more detail.

Kind regards,
