We've been on this journey a while, done all the disimpactions etc until she is now without movicol, we even got discharged from the continence service in July, I thought it was all over but the last 3 weeks my 9 year old daughter has had what suspiciously looks like overflow in her pants, it's happened once a week (strangely on a Monday) for the past 3 weeks, I don't know what to do, I'm waiting on a call back from the continence team to see what they suggest but was wondering if anyone has been through something similar and what did you do?

Are we back to square 1?

Hi, really feel for you. My son was on varying amounts of movicol for many years. I gradually decreased it over a long time. I do remember him having a quarter of a sachet every other day for a long time. It sounds like your daughter is nearly there! Perhaps needs a v small of movicol though? Good luck. You will both get there!
My son is 8 and whilst I would say his constipation is mainly under control he does have occasional set backs with soiling in his pants. He has not been on any medication over the summer but I give him senna whenever he has a set back (that is the only medication he’s been on for a while)
I have always despaired and thought we weren’t getting anywhere, but when I saw a specialist this week he was really impressed and felt we had the constipation under control. He said an occasional set back that you treat is fine and didn’t feel we needed any more treatment with the constipation.
He definitely made me feel like the situation is better than my perception of it and not to worry so much about the occasional set back.
