Daughter holding her wee and poo

My daughter is nearly 3 1/2 and we have started potty training for the second time about a month ago. She has major issues with letting go, she can sit on the potty for ages with every distraction possible and nothing happens. But the biggest problem we have is that she holds her wee and poo, her wee for 10-11 hours a day until she does the smallest darkest wee ever and her poo for over a week! She has already had a UTI in this last week and is now worse than ever. It is so hard not to get frustrated with her but I know it must be scaring her because she is such a lovely, intelligent girl, I don't think she's doing it on purpose. I am at a complete loss as to what to do. I don't want her to keep ending up with bladder infections and tummy troubles. Should I put her back in nappies?

I feel you. I have a 2 and a half year old who withholds her poo and she could go for a week.Her problem started when she had a painful stomach bug and ever since she was afraid to go. So check if there is any mental block. It gets really stressful for them.

My pediatrician had told me it's a matter of habit, a vicious cycle of with holding and painful poop. So we had been asked to use infant suppository everyday for 10days along with a stool softener and half sachet Ezlax

With continued holding the poo accumulates and the colon gets stretched.So that needs to be cleared first.Hence every day suppository.

The colon needs time to come back to its normal elasticity that's what we were told.

She has to sit on her potty after every meal...or sometime even during her meal when we feed her.

Now we don't let it go past day three. If no poop suppository in. Sometimes she just has a go cause she doesnot like the suppository. But I know it took 1 year of withholding and trying things...so it's going to be at least a year to form the habit and hopefully without suppository.

And of course lot of drinking water.

Also if you feel diaper will help....please do it. Anything to let that wee and poo out without medicines or suppository
