Hi all! Just a bit of background...my 3.5 daughter has history of withholding related to anxiety re: potty training. We did a disimpaction in Sept and she’s been pooing normally up until fairly recently & on a maintenance dose of 1 Movicol per day. Recently she was ill & couldn’t have Movicol for a few days. We started her back on it as soon as possible & thought things were ok but 2 weeks later it’s clearly not...she’s withholding, there’s a lot of soiling & discomfort & when she does poo it’s small & hard. Gp is useless & ERIC helpline are closed until Monday. Do I just do a full disimpaction again? Anyone been in this situation?

It sounds like following her illness her fear has come back somehow. That is how our daughter started to withhold following a sickness bug when she was nearly 4 years old. If the poo is small and hard then I would increase the dose of movicol slowly like you would have done at the begining and I am sure you will see improvements without having to do a disimpaction. Good luck. Xx
Thanks so much! It’s good to know that we might not need to do a full disimpaction but we’ll see how we get on.
