Do we continue disimpaction when child has sore throat?

We’re in the middle of a disimpaction regime with our 5 year old daughter and she has developed a sore throat and mouth ulcers, and has lost her voice. She doesn’t have a temperature, but she’s lost her appetite. Given that she seems to be fighting off a virus, should we stop the disimpaction regime? It’s a dilemma because if we stopped, we would have to start another disimpaction regime either once she is better (which would mean missing school) or during the Christian holidays (which is another two months away).

This is a tough one. I would perhaps consult with your Gp or paeditrian as discompaction programmes can knock them about. I can sympathise about wanting to complete it. They may be able to give advice how to continue. If the gp was happy to continue then I probably would.
