Are you sure it is overflow? My daughter had constipation but never overflow but from watching the poo nurses video I know there is a distinct difference. If it is overflow then your daughter will have a blockage so will need more laxatives. However if it is not overflow then it might mean you can start reducing the laxatives. Sorry that sounds unhelpful but it is best to be sure if you have dealt with the constipation first. xx

We’re in the same situation. My 5 year old daughter suffers with constipation and this week she’s been soiling. Visited the doctor on Wednesday and her dose of laxido & added lactulose.

To help with soiling at school my daughter wears a panty liner, so if she does soil she on has to change the liner rather than a change of underwear. (This was a teachers suggestion.) it’s not an ideal situation but it works. (I buy her the bodyform ones in the green box. They are very thin and shaped)

You’re not alone. I was surprised how many children suffer with it.

Hi my son is 7-he has the same problem. I kept on at drs until they gave him an ultrasound scan. It showed his bowel was too large-old poo was stuck in the middle and overflow was passing around it with the help of laxatives. He also has a descended rectum so he does not have the feel sensation of when he is going to poo. Unfortunately it is not an over night fix and he is still having an awful lot of trouble...if he does not get any better he will be admitted to hospital,he could be there weeks maybe months which i do not want as adults are not allowed to stay-only visiting hours as its in a special building on hospital grounds. My advice would be to persevere and put your foot down....you know your child better then anyone so keep going until you are listened to. I am not saying your child has exactly the same but dont give up hope!
