I have found out my son paeditrian is leaving and he has not been a signed another doctor. His doctor,is the first person who seems to understand what affect it has on your life. I can ring her up and she helps me adjust his medication and we were finally making some progress.
What has made things worse my son is starting to show signs where I need to look at increasing the movicol. Can a child get used to a particular dose of movicol?
I just need to get this of my chest. I'm scared all the bad behaviour is going to come back and everything else that goes with it.

Hi my son has another problem, overactive bladder. I am on anti depressants for it. I just wanted to say I feel your fears and worries. I send you a big hug
There are a few things that can affect the efficacy of Movicol, it can be as simple as to how much water your child is drinking (my daughter often has issues in cold weather as she is not as inclined to drink her water which has a huge impact) what they are eating (sometimes loads of fresh fruit and veg, others not so much) and growth - which was a big one for us. I just didn't equate a huge growth spurt to requiring an adjusted dose of Movicol until we reached crisis and she needed a disimpaction!
If your instinct is that his dose needs adjusting you could try a minimal increase for a few days and see things improve. I have read posts where the increase is by a teaspoon or so.
It is a shame to lose such a good doctor but sometimes a fresh set of eyes can be very beneficial and I hope that this is the case for you and your boy.
