Hi

Google

Cerebra DLA guide

You need to fill in with brutal honesty and worse case - often quite upsetting to complete .

If you have any reports etc from health professionals include and try and remember that things happen to you everyday and seem “normal “ are not for others and need to be included.

Best of luck .

hi take your time i have been fillng in these forms for years for my 38 year old downs syndrome daughter.i have always printed off a copy of the form and filled in in pencil then sent off for a papercopy from dla. you need to repeat yourself time and time again detail detail detail sit down and go through the worst 24hours that you have ever had and this is the details you give not good days and never never ever put down the word sometimes this happens or sometimes they can do this or that. if the answer to a question is yes always follow up with indepth details. if an answer is in a grey area dont tick the box but still follow up an indepth detail never leave anything with just a tick. you will find yourself repeating repeating repeating dont worry about that. also put the important worst detail first this is what theasessor sees first. sorry this is longwinded but you need to be brutal and you will find yourself in tears by the if it but its the only way and lastly photocopy everything you send for future reference and appeal if you have to i have for other people and won good luck x

I made my original application at the end of march last year! Yes! 😲 I did it independently, only later receiving help from my local HomeStart who I volunteered for in the past. I echo the need to give the worst case scenario, with as much technical language as possible. Provide as much detail & evidence with your application as this I what any appeal tribunal will look back too. I guess, not all areas of UK will be as bad as my experience, however since we have only just received our date for tribunal court, I would be prepared for the long haul. My 6.5 year old bumble has since been diagnosed with dysfunctional voiding & overactive bladder. She is currently on 4 medications. Am hoping they'll award us something. Any other questions, feel free yo message direct. Xx

I’ve chickened our at the moment. 🤦‍♀️

I don’t think I’m mentally strong enough yet to tackle it fully so thought I’ll let it slide at the moment and maybe in a few weeks I’ll have another crack at it. I feel awful for not fighting for it but it’s going to take a lot out of me, currently it’s too hot, two of my kids are playing up big style and they’re all quarrelling so I don’t really have the strength to fill this form out. That’s so wrong.... this form should make things easy. 😢

Don't be too hard on yourself, maybe used this time to think about evidence that will help the case. E.g, diaries - full or part days, hospital letters, care plans, therapy or input from other sources, list of medication. A little bit collated each week, will really help when you do have strength to complete the entire form. On a side note, if you want a printed copy, my local CAB did this for me without an appointment.
