My 6 year old daughter has had bouts of chronic constipation for 2 years. She’s been on 1/2 sachet of laxido for last 18 months. Some weeks she’s good, some weeks she soils herself 7 or 8 times a day. She seems to have no control of it, and can’t stop it coming out. (Sorry to be gross). We’re getting no continuity of care from GP, they’re not interested. She just says drink more water, eat more fibre etc. We’re currently doing a food diary but can’t really see any correlation between food and bad bouts. Do you think it’s better to see a specialist? And if so what specialist should it be? I’m thinking paediatric gastroenterologist?? Any advice would be gratefully received

Hi there x
My 5 year old suffers with chronic constipation and has recently started on movicol which is making a huge difference. Was a bit of a mess when we started as it cleared her system out but once we get the balance right it really worked for her xx. Good luck 😉
Has any one been referred to Primary Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (PCAMHS)? It sounds scary - but if it works???
