Hi, what are the best pads for a 5 year old in the daytime?
Just went to boots and lots of them look huge!!! I want absorbency but small enough for a 5 year old. I've got always discreet small plus. Not sure if they'll be ok. Gonna try after school! Between school pick up and teatime is horrendous! I get home with her, put wet clothes from school bag on, change her wet clothes she's wearing then deal with several accidents! I can't cook and change two girls! ( the younger is still potty training).
I hesitate with pads because I don't want it to stop her going to toilet. But I do need it to catch the bit that comes out on the way there!

Yep I'm interested in this too... We tried pads for the first time today as my 5 year old has her nativity tomorrow and the dress rehearsal today (she's a donkey....) I couldn't bare the thought of a wet donkey walking down the aisle with Mary and Joseph in front of everyone (school and village). I bought always discrete small as we live in a village and the selection was very limited. They are massive in her knickers... But (so far, touch wood) appear to have held up - since lunch time. I followed advice from here saying to put pads in knickers in advance then other children won't see and wonder what it is.
I made a point of telling her (repeatedly) that these are NOT nappies, and that she still needs to go to the toilet ALL THE TIME, but this is just to stop her clothes getting wet in case she has an accident... I have no idea if this has sunk in. I don't know if I'll put her in pads every day, but it does take the pressure off for days like today.
My 6 year old son wears Tena Lady extra plus. I haven't tried the Always range. Sainsbury's own pads disintegrate when full - not good. Life is so much easier now with pads!
We use the Dry Like Me pads, I get them from Amazon but i think you can get them from pharmacies. They are narrower than sanitary pads at the front and you can use them either way depending on if you are worried about poos or wees (i.e. wide end front or back). My 5 yo cant quite change them herself and i was worried about her being reliant on them but actually they just catch dribbles and if she has a full on wee it leaks and she has to change anyway so she knows she can't just use them like a nappy.
It just puts my mind at ease and really helps with poos - contains any leaks and save throwing away underwear.
