I have been diagnosed with epilepsy yesterday, and it has been quite a day for me!
I received my prescription for Lamictin, and read about it today. I am so scared of taking this, because of all the side effects!
Anyone on this with some positive results?
Thanks a million!

Hi, being given a medication for a day only is far too soon to tell. Some experience side effects, others may not depending on which medication is prescribed. Everyone is different, and what side effects affect you may not affect another person. One has to give the medication a chance to go into the system, and can take months before the body adjusts to it. Give it a try first, and keep us updated on your progress. Good luck!
I have taken this medication for many years - since 1994. I have not experienced side effects, but then we are all different. If you experience any side effects, notify you neurologist. As Les has said, it will take a while to adjust but need to take meds as prescribed, consistently, so the blood levels remain fairly consistent in your body i.e. skipping doses by mistake or taking them at varying time periods can cause levels to fluctuate and you dont want the levels to fall at a time when you are more susceptable to seizures. If over a period being on this dose, seizures persist, it may mean that the doctor will need to prescribe a slightly higher dose or another medication to compliment them.
Good luck, remain positive and you will be okay. I live a very normal, active life with epilepsy - in fact my condition is the last thought on my mind, unless of course I am assisting others.
