Luckily with the horrible housing market I've had an excuse to not live alone. But hopefully in the next couple years my son and I will be getting a house. Does anyone have any advice on having a seizure alone? I can thankfully say the majority of mine have been around people. I know it sounds crazy but is a life alert an option? I know I'm young but better than having no one lol. I have pretty intense grand mal seizures (lately about 1 every couple months) where I'll be out for 3-5 minutes and barely remember anything when I wake, throwing up and feeling like my brain just shut down for 3-5 minutes.

Hi KFristzche
As some point many people with epilepsy will wish to live Independently.
There are various measures that can be taken to increase safety. Our information safety in the home and daily living aids should be of help. This includes information on alarms and monitors. epilepsy.org.uk/living/safety
It's advisable for people with epilepsy to learn and understand about their own epilepsy, including any possible triggers, so they can help others to support them when needed. We have general information. epilepsy.org.uk/info
You don't say how old your son is but if he is young, it’s important he doesn’t feel responsible for you during a seizure – he just needs to know how to contact another adult. As soon as possible teach him how to use a phone or any alarms you may have. He can use this to get help if you are unwell or you have a seizure.
We also have information to help young children understand epilepsy. epilepsy.org.uk/living/pare...
