Epilepsy & sectioned ?

Am fortunate, in years experiencing Focal Impaired seizures, I was aware immediately that any seizure I have, is incredibly precise in timing I.e. Without medications, would typically experience a seizure 34-37 days into a 40 day period. in a 3yr period only experienced one at Day 32 and a couple at Day 40 (Nb. I Commenced medications 3yr's back)

NHS seem to think that I have full blown seizures daily, it took 4.5 years for the slightest, dim, recognition to surface within the NHS, that I'll typically be confused for half an hour after 35 days (Nb. I'm from a mildly science based background, so obviously on collating data, was aware of the incredibly precise, physiological timing of any seizure activity, had dutifully informed NHS in writing for 2yr's, I pressed the point, no doubt they'll claim "I didn't tell them"

Anyone else experienced horrific abuse from the NHS and attempts to section one at times, on the basis of having been confused for ten minutes every few months?

Hi, I hope you don't mind me trying to summarise all of this.So, are you saying after your seizure episodes you have windows of confusion but your hospital trust feel you are having a mental health episode? And feel sectioning is your best option?

Yes. The basic issue is that while I, have only called an ambulance out once in 52yr's, a multitude of emergency call outs have been made by others, when I've had a seizure. So NHS Trust in question have made fairly obvious attempts to intimidate / section me to prevent this I.e. 14-17 July 2024, I was held, abused, with an interview for "sectioning" being given at 02.30am, on the 17th July 2024. 26 August 2024. I then found myself dumped on the street outside, at 3am, on a night of heavy rain, some 35 miles from home, the taxi "arranged", presumably having been arranged to turn up after 30-40 minutes standing in the rain, sans coat, no shelter

As 1 or 2 dodgy police officers serving have also been involved, I have taken the matter forward via Independent Office for Police Conduct and have discussed issues with various individuals and/or relevant, statutory bodies

Yes I can fully sympathise with you, having had JME epilepsy for over fifty years, over 400 seizures, the absolute ignorance and malpractice of my LVH local hospital certainly falls in that category, numerous examples, I had a seizure on a certain Royal wedding in 2011, broke my right clavicle, went down to LVH A&E, they x-rayed it, told me I was fine, went back to watching the wedding in LVH A&E waiting room, SIX days later they rang me back, apologised🙄 years later that right shoulder blade, clicks out regularly! Eight years later, the shoulder blade was out fully, I have by now HPT, cannot fully identify pain, waiting in waiting room, a woman beside me had an epileptic seizure, I offered assistance, I was pushed out of the way, she stopped "shaking" they lifted off her recovery position, and was "thrown" onto a stretcher some three feet away! I "put" my shoulder blade "back" into position, marched out of that "dump", got a taxi home, and lay in bed, [I live alone], for two and a half days! I am now terminally ill, a double seizure in Jan 2018 left overnight in local hospital LVH, but was not x-rayed, I had a serious reaction to AZ vaccine in June/July 2021 where I had a CT Scan, [different hospital] they diagnosed broken skull/brain damage "the next seizure would probably be your last". Its the absolute pure ignorance shown by the public and indeed some NHS staff and some hospitals [thankfully not all} that has not really changed from when I had my first seizure in 1970!

Thanks for your response, quite reassuring to hear that others too, have experienced the worst that the NHS can offer. Though given your experience extends to a near 50yr's more than mine, am sure you'll have experienced much worse. Though good to hear you too, have walked out of a hospital ! Hope the terminal or previously broken bones aren't too painful. And as you say.....

1. Not all NHS Staff and Hospitals are the same (Nb. In my case, it's purely a limited but exceptionally concerning grouping of sickening, parochial individuals, who are causing the issues). Quite unlike 1-2 astounding Dr's experienced elsewhere

2. And on the positive ? I'd never experienced anything like the incredible levels of help offered by the "public", over the past 6yr's. Has been surreal

3. Since when did Ford Transits, service buses, taxis, small vans, 4/4's, party goers, insist on picking up and/or driving a cyclist / fell walker, home ?
