Tegretol (carbamazapine) supply?

I wonder if anyone else has the same problem with their supply of Tegretol? My doctors pharmacy does not seem able to get it for me and I have had to go miles out of my way to get my prescription fulfilled out of town. When my supply of pills gets so low I panic and am worried that I may not be able to get any. I am terrified of what will happen without it. The doctors surgery are not helpful and do not give or advise an alternative. Which is why I thought that I would post on here. Thank you in advance.

Hi

It can be worrying when you can't get your usual epilepsy medicine. I hope you hear from others on this platform, as sharing information and experiences can be a good idea.

Novartis, the manufacturers of Tegretol, have advised us this morning that all strengths and forms of Tegretol are in stock and being supplied to wholesalers as normal. But they have said that there does appear to be high demand in some areas at the moment.

We have some informatio about switching between different versions of your epilepsy medicine: epilepsy.org.uk/info/treatment/anti-seizure-medication/switching-between-different-versions-of-epilepsy-medicine

Can I just check you also know about our other services?

We have our Talk and Support groups (epilepsy.org.uk/support-for-you/talk-and-support-virtual-groups) and befriending service (epilepsy.org.uk/support-for-you/epilepsy-befriending).

We also have a membership offer which is designed to help people stay up to date with all the latest epilepsy news, views and research: epilepsy.org.uk/involved/join

Finally, if you think it may be helpful to speak to one of our advisers in more detail you can contact us by live chat or the Epilepsy Action Helpline freephone 0808 800 5050. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8.30am until 5.00pm and Saturday 10.00am until 4.00pm: epilepsy.org.uk/support-for-you/the-epilepsy-action-helpline
