My 5 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy with er seizures occurring during sleep. We are hoping to purchase a watch which will alert us if one of these nocturnal seizures occur.

Would anyone have any recommendations?

I’m looking into one of these for my partner at the moment, he has tonic clonic seizures which mainly occur at night. There’s an app with really great results called my medic watch. It’s won lots of awards and is credited by a few epilepsy foundations. The app is compatible with Samsung and apple smart watches. It monitors seizure activity and sends alerts to caregivers when the user is having a seizure. There’s a great video explaining how it works on their homepage.

You do have to pay for the app. It’s £6 a month or £60 for a year for the standard version which allows up to 3 caregivers to receive a notification when the user has a seizure. You can receive funding for stuff like this through PIP (personal independence payment) but it is rather difficult to get the funding. If you’re refused the first time try again! Everyone I know that’s applied has had to take it to tribunal and now receives the highest amount that can be awarded.

Hope this helps your daughter and your family through this difficult process x
