strange feeling after night time seizure

Hi, my husband tells me I had several seizures during the night (Mon) and the rest of the day until this morning I pretty much slept the entire time. This morning I feel a way I just can’t explain. Disconnected maybe, mixed with fear. Not hungry and just sitting down, even putting TV is bad. Is that normal? Well normal for after seizures. I’m relatively new to it and think I’m only really just accepting I do actually have epilepsy.

Hia there, I would say that is very typical as the after-effects of some types of seizures.

Get your husband to write down in detail what he saw, outlining what happened in each case. Also the timeline of when they happened and how far apart.

Obviously also make a note now of all you can remember about what happened as well as how you were after the seizures.

Run these past your neurologist giving him/her best chance of correctly diagnosing what they are and which anti-epilepsy medication would be best to tackle the type of seizures you are having. Good luck!

Hi there,

it can take time to come to terms with a new diagnosis of epilepsy and how it affects you. Everyone is different but many people tell us they  feel tired, disconnected, or feel unwell after seizures (epilepsy.org.uk/info/seizur.... And it can take a little while for these symptoms to settle down as well.

The positive news is that with the right balance of the right medicine up to 7 out of 10 people can get good seizure control. But this can take a little time. It could be worth keeping a diary (epilepsy.org.uk/living/seiz... and monitoring what you're noticing at the moment so you can see changes over time.

I'm also linking you to some website information we've written for people with a new diagnosis (epilepsy.org.uk/info/newly-... which may be helpful.
