Seizures following head injury

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience or knowledge about head injury’s and epilepsy.

I had a blow to my head 3 weeks ago, I didn’t lose consciousness but did have concussion. My obvious worry at the time was that it might bring on a seizure.

The part of my head that I hit still hurts and there is now a lump there.

2 days ago whilst I was at work I started having auras and almost had a seizure. It came on very sudden with no obvious cause. The same thing happened last night and I feel awful this morning. I’m just wondering if it could be linked to the head injury.

I was just looking for peoples thoughts or experiences on this subject. TIA

Get an MR scan asap.

I think it’s really important you go to A&E and explain the situation to them. Some head injuries can be ‘slow burn’ and if for example you have a bleed it’s effects can take time to make themselves known. Don’t delay, if there are problems it’s so much better to find out asap.

Hey Clares82

I know it's been a number of days since your post and I hope you have acted upon your situation since.

My epilepsy resulted from meningitis when I was an infant. I believe you must need to have it looked into. There is no harm in finding out that there is no issue opposed to ignoring it.

All the best.

head injuries definitely cause seizures. Very common in kids but also happens in adults. I gave mine due to a brain bleed.

Did you get an MRI and EEG?
