Daytime Parahypnagogia - anyone else?

Hi all,

I wondered what your thoughts were on this phenomenon and has anyone else experienced it? Apparently it occurs in 10 - 15% of people.

The description is this:

"Individuals describe DPH as a transient and fleeting episode that is dissociative, trance-like, dreamlike, uncanny, and often pleasurable; but, unlike a daydream, it is not self-directed. A DPH episode is spontaneous and may consist of a flash image, thought, and/or creative insight that is quickly forgotten. However, the individual remains aware of having had a DPH experience."

I also heard its a symptom of TLE but this distinction is that when it's attributed to epilepsy, people feel nauseous, sweat etc.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any further research in to this (that I can find) for the time being.

Thanks for your post. This is not a term we've come across in relation to epilepsy, however if you have epilepsy and have been experiencing this you may wish to speak to your epilepsy specialist about it.
