Hi don't get down over it this can be a lonely health problem if you let it or it can be a very strong build up of your strength as this health problem shows us not how weak we are but actually how much stronger we can become and yes it frightens alot of people away but when you find that one or two that don't run you find not just true friends but real friends shall we say that golden friend who would do anything for a good person no matter what so if you can accept this condition and face it with the strength needed you might just find this is more a friendly health problem than a lonely one.
Good luck and take care
Hi
I’m sorry to hear you have lost some relationships due to your epilepsy. It must be difficult for you.
From our experience, in most case people find it helpful to talk to or contact people who understand what they are experiencing. So I hope you hear from others in this community.
As well as managing the HealthUnlocked community, Epilepsy Action has other ways for you to contact others. These are:
Local meetings ¬ epilepsy.org.uk/near-me
Facebook facebook.com/epilepsyaction
Twitter twitter.com/epilepsyadvice
Online community forum.epilepsy.org.uk/
Near Me events epilepsy.org.uk/near-me
It can be difficult telling people about your epilepsy, as you just don’t know how they will react. But socialising is important. It supports good wellbeing. Here is a link to our information on epilepsy and wellbeing that I hope you will find helpful. epilepsy.org.uk/info/wellbeing
Finally, if it will help to talk to our helpline team, please give us a call on freephone 0808 800 5050. Our helpline is open Monday to Thursday 8.30am until 8.00pm, Friday 8.30am until 4.30pm and Saturday 10.00am until 4.00pm.
Regards
Diane

I have temporal lobe so I’ve not told anyone apart from immediate family, even then I don’t talk about it.
People just think I’m odd, forgetful, say and do weird things, I have another condition which hides this one to a point, all because I just cannot bring myself to talk about it, I’m ashamed, it’s stupid but that’s how I feel about myself 😢
