Hi, I have uncontrollable complex partial epilepsy and have for 11yrs now and I have found anything with to much strong concentration can cause a throbbing headache and an aching stiffness in my face but in some ways concentrating on something other than the state of my life helps so it’s a catch 22 situation because as much as it helps to take your mind off of the epilepsy it can bring on the problems that epilepsy can cause. I hope your coping well with your illness because I know how hard it can be.
Take care X
My Epilepsy was caused by a missing part that filters the amino acids going from the right side to the left side of the brain. When I was much younger is I were to be very excited or upset there is a serge of amino acid flowing through the base of the brain and is a small filter to regulate the change of emotions which I do bot have. I am not a doctor by any means but I do not believe your knitting would bring this on but perhaps if you are not relaxed it might build up tension. I sew , knit and hook rugs and find that having a neck support or a comfortable chair stops any stiffness in the back of my neck and try to relax as I also have osteoarthritis.
Hi Dolly - For most people knitting’s unlikely to trigger a seizure – unless you have a rare reflex epilepsy which is triggered by doing a certain activity ( epilepsy.org.uk/info/reflex.... In this case it’s likely that seizures would happen every time you experience the trigger.
I’m linking you to our information about triggers for seizures in case there’s anything here that might be helpful: epilepsy.org.uk/info/triggers
I hope you can find a way to enjoy your knitting.
