I have read a lot of negative side effects and terrifying reviews about Fycompa and just wondered if anyone would recommend this medication. My son is 24, high functioning autism with uncontrolled seizures for about 12 years. The doctors are recommending a RNS and I am still a little hesistamt about that so Fycompa is being prescribed to replace keppra. He is also on Onfi and Vimpat. After reading the reviews I am considering just saying no to this med. I just would love to hear more about experiences people have had or are having. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hello. Out of the meds I’ve taken for my complex condition (Phanebarbitol, Dilantin, Trileptal, Keppra, Vimpat, Fycompa, and Lamictal) , Fycompa had the worst side effects. Mood swings were the worst part.
I am 40+ and have been on several anti-seizure medications since age 6 due to Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. Fycompa has been by far the worst medication experience of my life. The mental side effects had an intense impact to my life with extreme highs and lows and a few stuck places in between.
