With private treatment you can access the best doctor and you dont waste time at all. When there is money, there is no delay. 99% of the doctors in private work in NHS too(so there are the same doctors in both sectors) but to see a specific one when you dont pay is difficult, plus you wait 6 months at least for any scan, consultation, surgery etc.

If you have the option to go private, you should do it. My endo gynae is top in the field in London and he does both private and NHS, but I saw him private so within a month I had diagnosis, lap etc.

Thanks Jo, appreciate your view.

I dont know where to start or if ive exhausted all endo treatments already but it took 9yrz for a diagnosis. As like you say 2/3/4/6 months in between trying this & that & ' are you sure its not just a heavy period' one time you get a real good gynae the next is crap or they fob off & one guy supposed the head gynae discharged me!!

Where would you advise looking??

It depends on where you live. Do your research online, ask people here or if friends/family know a good doctor. Make sure that the gynae is very experienced in endo and not general gynae problems.

If you can see someone in London I can message you my gynaes details. He is top in London with endo clinic in UCL Hospital and sees patients private/operates private too. He is brilliant and a very nice person too.

I live in Warrington, Cheshire.

Ive seen both gynae specailists in endo here, & several registars who were fair & offered goid advice of treatments to try.

It was infact a registrar who funally did a lap & diagnosed me not the actual soecailists!!!

Also when ive researched private doctors ( only minimal but its a start the doctors ive seen were the inly ones in my area! ) i just couldnt believe it! I certainly do not want to see them again.

Ive had a look at others in north west & also researching alternative therapists; acupuncture anyone?? Xxxx

P.s; thank you fir your helpful kindness ;)

I have started acupuncture, first session was magic! I felt so much better for a few days. But the therapist thought since I respond so well to take it one level up (more needles, more pressure, etc) and the pain was really bad after that. Now I'm taking it easy, trying to leave my body to reset, and then start again acupuncture with a different therapist and with mild sessions.

You should definitely give it a try, find a good one though and tell them to start easy on you and take it from there ;)

Good luck with the doctor search. If you ever need to see someone in London let me know :) xx

Hi. I asked for a second opinion after being refused treatment after a lap went wrong when I was diagnosed with Endo during an lap to drain a cyst. They ended up doing a laparotomy and me staying in hospital for 4 days. They said they wouldn't do any other lap as it was too dangerous and I was too inflamed inside. I went to Arrowe Park on the Wirral and the consultant was amazing. He operated and I'm 90% better. Just having problems with the Endo on my colon but I'm going back in 2 weeks and hopefully we can arrange an op to correct what is left and remove my ovaries.

My diagnosis was through a private specialist in Sheffield. I went in for a hysterectomy but when he did the lap he found sever stage 4 endo. So couldn't have it. He suggested having Zoladex (which I have been having since July). BUT... my insurance company would not pay out for ongoing chronic treatment! They only paid for the diagnosis and lap. I am now seeing the same consultant through the NHS. Because he wanted to treat me himself he arranged my first appointment so it was a very swift change over. Happy with the treatment I am receiving. He is a very good consultant.
