Hi

they usually do 3 incisions, the main one in your belly button, and two more lower in your abdomen and groin area.

Recovery time varies depending on the person and on how extensive the surgery will be. The more will do during the lap, the more time you will need. There are women that after 1 week were fine and other that needed 6 weeks or so.

Hi,

Before surgery I was told 2, but when I came round I found I'd got 3.

The pain post-surgery was as bad as I was expecting.

I would however, recommend taking it easy even if you do feel fine (I ended up back in hospital 4 weeks later).

Sorry to hear that you've got surgery but hopefully it will help to ease the pain for you :) as the other girls say you may have 3/4 incisions, but they are small and generally heal very well. With a laparoscopy you are generally told 2 weeks, you need to rest during that time as rest is ESSENTIAL to your recovery, if you think you will be bored then I would suggest you get some magazines/books/dvds ready for it. I wouldn't rely on TV during the day as it is awful! There are also some other things you may not know

- you will be extremely bloated from the surgery, treat yourself to some comfortable new trousers to wear during the time/out of hospital leggings or sweatpants? Also some new PJ's can make you feel nice during your recovery.

- you will also have alot of 'gas' i.e. wind inside you which contributes to the pain, it is easily managed with peppermint tea or capsules (capsules work quickly) if you get them now you will be prepared.

- you will be in pain but it is manageable, don't be afraid to take the pain killers they give you, they are there to help you, your body will know when it's time to stop taking them .

- lastly if you have got any tasks to get done, do them before the surgery, it will help to relax during the recovery

lastly enjoy the rest! I'm sure you deserve it :)

ps if you are on twitter there are hundreds of other sufferers talking about these issues in a friendly/positive way, search under #endosisters

Hi I just had my laprarosopy and hysocopy and laser and coil fitted just 2 and a half weeks ago. 3 incisions. I'm back to work tomorrow. I don't really feel better but I think it's something to do with the coil and still getting bleeding and pain, but I expect normally you feel better by then.
