I’ve recently been diagnosed with two endometriomas (so suspected endometriosis) and adenomyosis at my local hospital. I wanted to be referred to a BSGE centre (as I think this is the NICE guidelines ?), but my consultant wants to do surgery locally (and the wait for surgery in my area is up to 2.5 years !!) After I said I was uncomfortable with this, especially without any MRI, they’ve requested an MRI which they’ll then discuss with the BSGE centre first. I need an open scanner as I’m claustrophobic. Has anyone had experience in an open MRI scanner please, as I’m struggling to find one which will scan looking for deep infiltrating endometriosis ? Many thanks !

Hi,
Though the MRI i had wasn't open, it was only from my abdomen down that was in the scanner. My head remained out the scanner.
If you wanted to explore options - could sedation be offered too?
Good luck with everything x
