undiagnosed endo

hi guys, just looking for some advice, I’ve been struggling with a severe pain in the lower right side of my stomach for a few years now, been admitted to hospital twice to check for appendicitis (I knew that wasn’t what the pain was) and only in October 2024 a doctor mentioned endo to me, I hadn’t really ever heard much about it but after reading up on it I’m almost certain it’s what I’ve got. In the last maybe 6 months I’ve starting experiencing a pain right at the top of my bum whenever I’ve been sitting at my work and it’s making me miserable, sometimes it’s so bad that i can hardly get off the chair! Has anyone else experienced a pain here that was caused by endo? my wait time to see a gynae is 68 weeks and I’ve been on the list for 15 and I’m not sure if I can stand this pain for much longer! 😔

Hi

What pain medication has GP given you?

Pain in rear and legs can be a symptom, can effect the sciatic nerve.

Are you keeping a pain/sympton diary? Important to keep notes, you might see a pattern and avoid pain building up. The Endo YK site has some really good info.

If you want a diagnosis sooner and can afford it see an Endo expert privately, if they do NHS as well and with their agreement you can transfer to NHS. I have done this several times, not just Endo.

Your GP can also write to the department and try to make appointment urgent, also check you have been referred to a gynae with interest in Endo.

Have you looked at the NICE guidelines for Endo? Can be very useful so you know what to expect.

Hi,I agree with moon_maiden definitely keep a diary even if it's just cramps and period tracking. I found this really helped me because I could visually show them what was going on.

Thought I would also add, go back to the GP. Tell them about how severe your pain is and how you can't continue doing normal daily activities due to it. Ask if they can expedite you on the list. It's commonly done and could help you get seen sooner.

Also might be worth if you can, letting the gyno know you will fill cancellations. Will also help you be seen sooner. Obvs don't always get alot of notice so not helpful when going to work but could be worth it for one day off sick.

Hope you get answers soon
