Has anyone had unusually severe hormone fluctuations with adenomyosis??

Hi. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis around 2021 after suffering from such pain down below for 3 years. Very long story short, within 10 mins of seeing a gynae consultant and having an internal ultrasound I was told suspected adenomyosis! I was told the only way to get 100% diagnosis of this condition is to have womb removed and then examine it! I wasn’t ready for that!

3 years on and my perimenopause took off and I’m on hrt! My hormone fluctuations are not normal and co incide with womb pain and bloating , constipation and back ache! I’m reading stories online about women who struggle at work and starting to realise this is me! I’m devastated at the effects and feel ‘hormonally imbalanced’ most of the month.

My question is does anyone have experience of their consultant saying that adenomyosis can increase fluctuations in hormones during this time of life?!

Who told you this? Is has been now established with a suitably qualified sonographer you can be diagnosed by imaging.

Did you use hormonal birth control before you were on HRT? How was it?

I haven't got to where I need to be on HRT but due to the late diagnosis of adenomyosis - I had signs and symptoms soon after I started my periods as a teen - it was confirmed I don't get on with progesterone in contraceptives or otherwise.

Some women with adenomyosis are fine with a mirena coil so use that to provide their progesterone even when they go on HRT.

hello I have adenomyosis and I was diagnosed via MRI. Also had an ultrasound scan last month and told again I have a thickened uterine wall and that this is adenomyosis. Hysterectomy is the only way to rid yourself of adenomyosis unfortunately. I have been on HRT and the decepeptyl injection a few years ago and piled on the weight, my mental health went into a very dark place, my stomach bloated all the time and boobs doubled in size. I didn’t feel like me at all. The hot flushes and sweats were ruining my life.

My question is does anyone have experience of their consultant saying that adenomyosis can increase fluctuations in hormones during this time of life?! My answer to that is no, never been told that.
