Adenomyosis vs Endometriosis

Im just home from laproscopy surgery for endometriosis. But of background I've suffered with symptoms for 7 years, and been on the waiting list for 5 years. However they found no endometriosis, which has baffled me beyond belief. They have a strong suspicion of adenomyosis and PCOS due to enlargement and other bits. I'm going back to see the consultant in 3 months for a scan which will confirm or deny the adenomyosis and they've fitted me with a mirena coil which will help as it's localised hormones.

I just feel helpless. I was certain I'd come home and once healed be pain free that they would take away all that was hurting me.

I feel so disillusioned and just don't know where to go from here.

Unfortunately it appears that you have been misinformed.

There are tonnes of posts on this forum that indicate that even if they found you had endo and were able to removed all that they could find there would have been no guarantee that you would have been pain free.

There is simply not enough research into endo, adeno and other conditions that causes problems with women's reproductive organs, so any current treatments are an attempt to decrease symptoms but do not cure them.

Btw is your gyno a specialist in endo? And is the person doing the scan trained to look for adeno and endo?

Not what you're looking for?
