Endometriosis Treatment Clinic Recommendations

Hi,

I'm looking for a recommendation for an endometriosis treatment clinic. I have been referred to see various gynaecologists at my local NHS hospitals over the years and they've all been awful - bad advice, patronising. My doctor thinks I have endo and we agree I should try somewhere else, but I don't want to go somewhere and have an equally bad experience. I just want to be able to talk to a gynae who listens to establish that it is endo and explore treatment options. Can anyone recommend anywhere? I was looking at Liverpool Women's Hospital Endometriosis Centre, has anyone been there and found them good?

Thanks!

Hey,

If you're looking for endometriosis specialists, then I would get your GP to refer you to a BSGE accredited centre.

Centres with this accreditation are hospitals with proven track records for diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. They also tend to be the endometriosis research centres with new trials ongoing.

All BSGE centres can be found:

Thanks for replying Purpleindigo. Yes I used the bsge website to find the Liverpool hospital. I just wondered if anyone had used it themselves or had been anywhere else they had found really good and could recommend. It just seems so hit and miss whether you get someone good.

Hey,

I'm based more in the East of England, and I've been to both the BSGE at Norwich and Addenbrookes in Cambridge.

Norwich completed my complex stage 4 surgery and I have to say the consultants/surgery was as good as it could have been. No post surgery complications, quick recovery.

Might be a bit of a trek from Liverpool though!

I found them both BSGE centres to be good and in comparison to non BSGE they were fantastic. Its very clear when you get a gynaecologist who actually has an interest in endo. Both centres did require some pushing and reminders in terms of timeliness/follow up.

Unfortunately, I think this is just a product of the NHS as a whole atm, with wait times horrendous.

Hey,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad you got good treatment. Yes, Norwich is a bit of a trek from where I am. It's good to hear though that as bsge centres they were better than non-bsge ones. I'll maybe just give Liverpool a shot then as they have that accreditation too.

Thanks for your help!
