3 weeks post lap and getting pain in upper legs/groin

I’m 3 weeks post laparoscopy/excision of endometriosis and have noticed the last few days I’m getting either dull aches or shooting pains in my groin and upper legs. Also actually feel at times a bit more tender around incision sites as if it’s a bit strained. Only difference the last few days is I have increased my walking distance. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m due back at work a week on Friday which is quite a physical job working with patients. Not sure if it’s my body telling me it’s too much too soon increasing the walking or if it’s normal and to continue doing more as I need to be doing more to be ok for work next week.

I am just over 2 weeks post op and feeling the same when I walk too fast or too much. I’m planning on going back to work next week but only because it’s a desk job and I can work from home should I need to. Listen to your body and take some more time off if you can. I had the same pains every month but have them mostly every day at the moment if I’ve pushed myself too much. Trying to rest as much as possible for the next 4 days before work. Good luck with your recovery.

I had the exact same pains as you! I’m currently 8 weeks post op and finally feel like my “normal” self again. I was off work for 3 weeks in total (as I actually had a holiday already booked after my sick note ran out) and once I was back I had to take it really steady and do a phased return as I also have a fairly physical job and found in the afternoons I needed a hot water bottle and pain killers which thankfully my work didn’t want me to be in pain so we altered my hours for a little while.

Lifestyle wise at times up to the 6 weeks post op mark I found it very frustrating how some days I could be absolutely fine and then others I could still have fatigue or could trigger off swelling/bloating of my tummy if I over did things like a lot of walking or lifting, which in turn caused a dull ache type of pain. Thanks to this forum I realised it was all totally normal and not as quick to recover as the advice from the hospital suggested! I have an electric heat pad which I would really recommend to use (any time really but) in the evenings over your tummy and relax just to help everything relax.

Be kind to yourself, don’t feel guilty for resting and listen to your body. My mood was quite low for a while as I put a lot of pressure on myself to be recovered and felt frustrated, but after I realised it’s a marathon not a sprint life got easier.

Wishing you all the best with your recovery x
