I’m just looking for some advice regarding Zoladex, I was diagnosed with stage 3 Endo last November and my pain improved for maybe 3 months and then it’s back to how it was before, if not worse, I have an appointment upcoming with my endo specialist and I’ve recently had another MRI to check for missed or reoccurring endo (it was picked up on MRI previous to my November diagnosis with the lap) however the specialist nurse and consultant keep suggesting I take zoladex.
I’ve looked into it, read the leaflets etc however I’m in 2 minds whether to have it or not, I feel like it’s very drastic but then so is the pain I’m experiencing. One of my main concerns is that I don’t take hormonal contraception due to how low it makes me feel and all of the physical side effects, so partly I feel like is that worth it for only 6 months or should I be looking at it like “it’s only 6 months” I’m just so confused and completely torn on whether I should accept it or not. Also, do I have to take HRT forever basically after? That’s the kind of gist I’ve gathered from the leaflet

Hi,I have stage 3 endo, on the day of laparoscopy I started Zoladex injections to stop my periods and stop endo growth. Ended up having 9 Zoladex injections, then was put on Cerelle to slow down endo growth. You don't need to take HRT unless you are suffering with the menopausal symptoms, after a few months coming off Zoladex your periods will return so if you did need to take HRT you wouldn't need to take forever.
Hi. I'm using it atm I've had 3 injections so far almost at my 4th, I cancelled 2 appointments initially as I was terrified of the side affects etc but it's my last resort before surgery.
Although everyone is different I can honestly say it's saved my life. I'm hoping my specialist extends it and allows me to use it until my surgery (godknows when due to waiting lists) but honestly it's been fabulous, I've had no flare ups *( I do continue to get back and flank pain but these are managable compared to what pain I was in) I've had no asdd back HRT and no menopause symptoms honestly don't know how I will do life without it. I'm so happy on it too xx
Ive just had my 5th zoledex and took hrt from jab number 2. The 1st 2 months were hell but since jab 3 im more or less pain free, no periods for 10 weeks. The menopause symptoms come and go.I hope i can stay on it till surgery as i was told 12-18 months. Remember every one is different but it was worth sticking out as my consultant said takes 8-12 weeks to start propperly working
I had zoladex 3 times with hrt. Then I had prostap and hrt before hysterectomy last October. Hrt is only taken whilst having treatment. Without hrt you have menopausal ymptoms. With the hrt I had no problems and very very few hot flushes. Even now post hysterectomy I have very few flushes. Ask your consultant for advise. Anything is worth a try to get some relief, but not every medication suits everyone. Good luck
