I had one without, despite my consultant requesting with. I tried to insist and the guy doing the scan literally told me it was poison and they were trying not to use it anymore to save him time. Resulting in a complaint to pals. Thankfully the scan still showed enough to warrant referral to a BSGE centre.

I’d always prefer it as it’s a step to ensure you shouldn’t need a further scan/with contrast surely it’s as clear as it’s going to get.

I had an MRI scan without abs it showed nothing despite having ultrasound and hystoscopy and biopsy of endometriosis and Adenomyosis so what a waste of time and feel it's not helped push my hysterectomy further. 😞

I had my last MRI without contrast last August. I have a severe reaction to any IV injections, and the first MRI I had I vomited within 60 seconds of having the contrast. The radiographer told me that if they gave me the contrast and I was sick it would ruin the whole MRI. However he did the MRI slightly differently. The MRI showed extensive Endo in my bowl, on my bladder and everything is pretty much stuck together. I also have adenomyosis.

I have a definitely diagnosis of Adenomyosis. This was only confirmed this week, 4 months post hysterectomy and have also been diagnosed with Occult endometriosis 😢 My scan was done without too. What a waste of time. No one has believed how much pain I am in. I'm sorry that you have all suffered too. Womens health is shocking. This will be added to my complaint xx

gadolinium and similar contrasts can result in irreversible renal and multiple organ failure if the renal function is in anyway compromised. Instructions to MRI facilities are usually instructed to carry out blood and other panels in advance of any procedures.

Regular MRI without contrast should suffice
