I’m currently being referred to a specialist after finding out I have an 8cm cyst on my ovary. For the last 2/3 weeks I have been in pain everyday and even ended up in A&E due to how much pain I’m in 24/7. On the first occasion they remeasured the cyst at 10cm then on the second trip to A&E it measured 12.5cm. The measurements seem to be going up, not down. They’ve said that measurements can change a little bit depending who scans you, but it’s a bit odd that I wasn’t in any pain when it was measuring 8cm and now I’m in constant pain and the measurements have gone up, clearly the cyst is growing ! It’s gone from 8cm to 12.5 in 2 month !
I have an MRI scan at the end of the month, which they have refused to bring forward as they don’t think it’s necessary ?!!
eveeytime I go to A&E they can’t do anything for me and just send me away, the last time with codeine to manage the pain !
I can’t live like this, has anyone had anything similar, how long did you have to wait for treatment / next steps
Sorry for the long post, but I currently feel so alone with this :(. Would be so grateful for any advise

I went to a and e in pain with my cyst and they sent me to gyno department and had a scan the next day and initial consultation and now urgent surgery.. push for a referral from your gp to a gyno and if you go back to a and e in pain see if they can send you to gyno - if you’re in a lot of pain there is a chance of cysts twisting or rupturing (at least what the doctors told me). Good luck! Also, you could ask for the mini pill as short term and see if that could help. I’ve been prescribed that by a gyno consultant and it’s really helped with pain and bloating. Good luck!!
Hey ! Thank you for replying. I saw the gyno at A&E and they were the ones that sent me away and told me they couldn’t do anything for me right now. Not sure if it’s because I have my MRI scan at the end of the month and they think that’s sufficient. I just find it crazy that they can leave me in this much pain, I’m currently relying on pain medication everyday to help with the pain. Feel completely lost on what the best action to take is
Oh that’s really bad they just sent you away without giving you some more support.. are you on any medication for it? If you’re not on the pill you could try progesterone only as is meant to balance out the oestrogen and keep calling them for cancellations if you have a referral in the meantime. I find codeine is good for pain but not great long term. Is your MRI scan part of a treatment plan? It sounds like you should be on one. Maybe try and go back through your gp? If you have a cyst then that’s enough for them to be taking you seriously! Keep trying and don’t give up, good luck
You need to be sorted urgently because it could be the start of ovarian torsion. I’ve 7.4cm cyst and I’m risk of that they told me. It comes with awful pain. It’s downright reckless for them to leave you in pain and you are not seen urgently by gynae oncologist to diagnose cyst. Can mri not be brought forward. Do you have private insurance to get mri sooner. You need to be referred immediately for a transvaginal ultrasound where they will assess what type of cyst you have, if it’s vascular, if it’s fluid, solid etc. it could be endometrioma or not. But the tv ultrasound is best way to look at cyst. I’m speaking from my own experience experience at moment. Don’t worry push your gp to help you.
