Personal Independence Payment. Can I ask who has applied for Endometriosis and if anyone has actually been successful?

Hello,I applied for PIP last year and it was declined, I appealed and have just received my decision letter to be told it has been declined again.

After it was declined the first time I did a lot of research and found several documents into how the government needed to take women's health more seriously and this needed to be reflective in PIP claims and Endometriosis.

I am thinking about going to a tribunal with it but I am just wondering has anyone done this, what was the process like? And also has anyone applied and if so was you successful or not?

Thank you

I can't imagine they'll give it to you although I admit, I know very little about PIP. However, I think it would set precedence wouldn't it? And with 10% of women suffering from endometriosis (albeit at different stages and circumstances regarding the disability) that would be opening the floodgates for claims. Perhaps seek some legal advice (if you haven't already) and good luck with it. I completely agree that women's health should be taken more seriously x

Hi, I was unsuccessful initially, slightly successful at mandatory reconsider and then I went to tribunal and was fully successful.

I sought advice from my local citizens advice and they helped a lot. I do have other things going on other than endometriosis however that did have a bearing on my case.

My best advice is be clear, logical and present your information in a clear way. It sounds harsh but they care very little for your emotions. You have to say things like my endometriosis causes extreme pain, here is the proof, here is the impact, here is what I think I should be rewarded. Evidence is your best friend.

hun I get pip but that is because of a lot of other conditions I have as well . First time was declined second time my mental health therapist helped me as she had to speak them and also my doctors did as well. The thing is you have to write about your worst experiences and symptoms and how they affect you every day . Also as the other person said quite rightly you need evidence to back this up . Ie when you have been admitted to hospital to a and e when you have seen you consultant when you have seen your dr wether someone has to physically help you to eat or dress take pills etc shower how fat you can walk and if you stop and your doubled over. Whether you symptoms happen when your on your period or outside your period as well what hormones your on what medications you take how it effects others around you as said when your at your worst you need so and so to cook for you to dress you to shower you I know this maybe repetitive but they need to have a clear picture. If you wrote something like on my period I’m tearful or emotionally in so much pain but can do things for myself they wont award it to you because you have said can do things for myself. If you have any issues talk to citizen advise and talk to someone who knows how the system works etc if it wasn’t for my mental health therapist I wouldn’t have gotten it but now as I have more issues other than mental health and problems that are on going I have had to up date my symptoms etc also I will probably have to go for a review soon as they need to know when you are on it whether you still need same level of support or less as that decided a what level you get paid . I hope this helps as an example of what not to say and maybe why your decision was declined. So honestly talk to someone who can help you word it in a way backs everything. That happens in the average day week month . Xx take care x

Hi

I was successful, although I had endometriosis listed I also had chronic pain listed as that’s what’s down on the fit notes.

I did send copies of loads of medical evidence and medications etc, it’s really important to back things up as much as you can. When it came to the phone call questions like how far can you walk are stupid, we can walk as limbs aren’t effected but I get abdominal pain all the time regardless so it becomes how much can I put up with.
