Going to be a teaching assistant with endo

Hello all,

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who wrote thier experiences on work and endo on my last post! It meant so much and I have been so busy with job hunting since then.

Even though my background in education is sociology/social policy I decided to sign up to an education agency to be a teaching assistant for primary schools that are close to me. I opted for 3 days a week because of my health. I do get daily pain especially in the morning so getting out of bed is a challenge. Does everyone have any background in this type of role with endo as a challenge?

I have not been placed yet as I am going through the checks and doing the safeguarding course but I will like to read any stories or experiences on this subject, especially on pain management.

Thank you.

Hi, I'm a primary teacher with endo and ulcerative colitis. Honestly it's hard and I've had periods of time off but the advantage is your so busy in the classroom that you don't have time to think about how rubbish you might feel. You will get very good at the fake smile and pretending its all OK! Make sure the class teacher knows so they can support you and aren't worrying that something is wrong. And lastly have the pain relief and heat pads close by (but obvs locked up away from little hands!) Good luck!
