So my wife has been referred here with stage 3/4 endometriosis.

Has anyone been referred here? What were your experiences if so? What kind of wait times did you have? My wife is currently on prostap for up to 6 months, so we're unsure of what kind of time scale to expect - before 6 months? After?

Thank you!

Hello, I've been referred to the Addenbrookes specialist centre and I can't say my experience has been very good so far. I was referred a few months ago (with confirmed deep infiltrating endo diagnosed via MRI) and I have yet to even speak to the endometriosis nurse, let alone a consultant. It seems the waiting lists are very long as there used to be two consultants but one has left. I think they triage cases on the severity though so she may be seen quicker, I'm not sure. I'm now exploring going private at the Spire in Cambridge as I can't wait years for an operation.

In case it's helpful for your wife, there's an Endometriosis UK support group for Cambridge on Facebook. They run a support group meeting once a month and it's nice to speak to local people who are going through the same things. You can also engage with them on the Facebook page if you can't make the meetings.

Please reach out if you need any further information, wishing her all the best!

Hi I've been referred under addenbrookes for a year this month. I was diagnosed via mri and put on the list for surgery march 2023. I do think the consultants are very good but the waiting list is out of their control I cant afford to go private as I was quoted 32k without any consultations before or after. I would love to know how far off a date I am but I don't think anyone knows. I like to think I'm not far off as I had an appointment with the consultant last month and got given all my medication before surgery and consent form signed. I am due to discuss the surgery with the bowrl surgeon next week which I think is a very quick appointment. Anyone else under their care and waiting I'd be very interested to know how long the waits are. Addenbrookes is renouned for their care and amazing work so id be reluctant to go anywhere else and also accredited bsge. I count myself lucky to be referred to such a good hospital which is why i am waiting. All the best and hope you get the care you needAnnabel

Hi Annabel,

I too am under Addenbrookes and saw a consultant May 2023.

I opted for surgery and am currently waiting. I have endo, adeno, and bowel endo.

They said a hysterectomy and removal of endo and bowel resection.

I guess I'm a bit behind you in terms of waiting but would be very interested in the waiting times too He told me at least a year for surgery. I've had no contact since.
