endometriosis and hot weather

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone knows if hot weather can make endometriosis symptoms worse?? I already struggle a lot to regulate my body temperature and I know that has to do with my ADHD, but I did see somewhere that women with endometriosis can also struggle with this? I’m not sure if it’s just the stress of being so hot is causing endo symptoms (stress is probably the biggest cause of flare ups for me), but just noticed this week with temperatures being 30 degrees in the UK, I’ve had a lot more endo pain than usual xx

Hi May,

I have also been struggling this week , I’m in the middle of a flare up so this week has almost been impossible for me with the heat ! I can’t wait for it to disappear! So like you said not sure if it’s the weather itself or the stress of it being so hot that’s causing the pain but either way it’s a nuisance ! And hopefully your pain will also settle soon x

I actually tend to find heat helpful for my endo as the only thing that usually gives me any relief for pain is an electrically heated pad I use. Lying in the sun also helps me (although I don't think I'll be doing that in the intense heat today!). I suspect we're all different though, and if you have other issues with regulating body temperature I can see why very hot weather would be a challenge. I've definitely noticed stress is a trigger for worsening my symptoms.

I hope you're able to get some relief from the heat today.

Hj May,

This week has been especially hard for me too with endo symptoms, which I think is partly down to the heat. I’m in my ovulation phase which is never pleasant but has been especially bad this month. A fan and tens machine have been my saviours this week!

Looks like it’s going to cool down after this weekend fortunately ☺️
