Hey all, my first post! I have finally decided to seek advise elsewhere because quite frankly I feel i am getting nowhere with my gynae consultant. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis in 2021 - it was stage 2 and i underwent a laparoscopy which was successful at the time. However, fast forward 2 years - my pains are back, i am in constant pain with my lower back on the left side, i have had an Xray which found nothing. I also have an extremely irritable bowel, where before my period i can go to the toilet around 10 times a day (urinating) - i become bloated, bleed extremely heavy and have horrendous cramps.

I have just had my pelvic MRI results back which has ruled out any new growth of endo - so i am confused, I want to know why i am still having these symptoms if there is no found endo, and i am aware an MRI shows more deep tissue then anything, so it may be that its not deep enough to find?

I am extremely anxious about having sex and haven't in 2 and half years as its so painful - i am at my witsend, it took me around 10 years to be diagnosed with endo the first time and i feel i will need to continue being in pain forever? i have so many questions about endometriosis that my gynae is incapable of answering correctly.

Does anyone have any advise?

Hi

MRI's aren't sensitive enough to detect superficial endometriosis, so it could be that.

Also the adenomyosis will still be there (unless you had a hysterectomy) so that would probably be causing pain too.

Were you put on any hormone treatment after the surgery?

I thought as much, thank you.

And no, nothing .. I have only just recently started to take the contraceptive pill alongside being in the implant. To reduce the heavy periods I have. I have periods every 2 weeks so 50% of the time I have these symptoms.
