I’m clueless!

Hello,

First post. Joined today! I have been back and forth to gynae since 2018 with severe pelvic pain. In 2021 the consultant said he was convinced endometriosis fit the symptoms; told me to get a mirena coil. The waiting list for the coil was a year. I had it put in in september 22nd 2022 and removed 11 days later - no scan. Just in extreme agony with it.

Since then my pain was been ‘managed’ with a mixture of pills and I am prescribed 100mls of oramorph as and when required. (Which is monthly!)

Yesterday I saw gynae again and the lovely consultant had immediately suggested surgery. She had thoroughly looked through my notes, and was super kind and helpful. A bit miffed that they didn’t scan me to check the coil had been inserted correctly before taking it out but very lovely.

And now it’s a waiting game for the appointment for surgery…

Just wondered if anyone could enlighten me with their experience of the surgery and wondered if anyone else is taking an opioid to get through their period each month? As i’m a little concerned.

Thanks!

Hi, l am 77 years of age and began my endo journey in November 2021. Saw a consultant who did not take me seriously even though l was having vaginal haemorrhages 4 days out of 9 for months. Fast forward to a January of this year and got a new consultant who put me forward for completion of hysterectomy 7 weeks ago after the first one doing a partial in December 2022.

My endo had been recorded with the first surgeon as being 1.9mm when it was 1.9cm which is 1.5 above the recommended safe measure of 4mm.

Both surgeries were relatively comfortable with very little after pain, but, he should have performed the full at the first surgery, which l requested but he poo-pood , as they also found a deep infiltrated tumour in my endo during that first procedure. My advice please note down any and all questions in your diary, and any flare ups and take this with you to your consultations. Wishing you a speedy answer and recovery.
