Zoladex not working?

Hi all,

I had my firstZoladex injection late November due to Stage 4 endometriosis and other than the usual agonising pain in December I have been pain free. It was like night and day and I finally felt I had my life back.

I have now had 5 monthly injections and felt some of my usual pain out of the blue three weeks ago.

This morning my pain came back worse than I’d ever had, to the point I had paramedics attend my house.

Has anyone else experienced the Zoladex implant stop working? I’m not sure what the next step is but I can’t go on like this again. I will call my endo nurse in the morning but on mentioning my pain 3 weeks ago she didn’t seem concerned and I’m not sure I’ll have another option offered to me.

am on zoladex for heavy bleeding and at first it did wonders for me. I took a break from it for 4 months and just had my first injection after the break but am bleeding way more than i did before. I worry that it may not work this time i dont know if it fails bse there is no other options for me. I cant have the operation any time soon bse there are no appointments!! Hope your symptoms clear again. Take some pain killers if you can

Hi Wilsoc1! Sorry to hear you’re still in pain with Zoladex. I’ve been on it for almost 2 years now, and it’s been working well for the most part. Are you on any sort of add back therapy, HRT? I ended up in A&E with extreme pain and bleeding, and started Kliovance shortly after. Since then I’ve only had spotting and occasional pain, normally a few days either side of getting the injection. It’s given me back a quality of life I didn’t think I’d manage to have! Hopefully you get sorted soon!

Sorry to hear what you have been going through. I had to come off zoladex as it caused me water infections and a kidney stone that had to be removed in theatre. If it continues ask for scan instead you have stone, its a rare side affect.

Get well soon.
