Searching for info on going private.

Hi everyone! I'm south west based and after a 2 year long wait on the waitlist with the NHS for a diagnostic laparoscopy (which they will only ablate, not excise) a family member has offered to pay for me to go private.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share rough costs (as everywhere is super private about costs) if they've gone private and also if you have any recommendations / warnings about any Drs or hospitals they've used? Ideally south west based - I'm based closer to Bristol than anywhere else.

Thank you in advance for any information you can give :)

I’m confused why you can’t be told? If I want the cost for something (any appointment or procedure) I ring the local private hospital and just ask. They won’t expect you to attend an appointment without knowing the cost. When you book an appointment with a private doctor you’ll be asked if you are paying yourself or if it’s insurance. You would have to have an appointment before any treatment anyway and at that point they can tell you the cost. (They don’t tend to bother if it’s insurance) A private appointment at the hospital I go to (with any kind of doctor) is about £250. If I had to guess the cost of a laparoscopy nowadays I would guess at around £3500 but it’s been a whilst since I had private treatment. They would also want you to have a scan before a laparoscopy if they don’t already have that information and overnight stays if required (but it’s not usually) can increase the cost.

hello I don’t live in your area but I had a private laparoscopy which included initial consultation, an overnight stay, then a follow up £5,500. You can call your local private hospital to get prices before you go ahead with anything x
