i had my laparoscopy last march (2021) where they diagnosed me and did ablation. I had a recent MRI which showed signs of endometriosis - is it possible for endometriosis to grow back this fast and would it be worth pushing for an excision surgery at this point?

Ablation is only really suitable for the very mildest of endo cases. The endo does go back really quickly, sometimes the same is true after excision too. It depends on which type of endo you have and your body and if you are doing things that increase eostrogen like taking HRT or some types of pill.
Also sometimes ablation is done when the medicas arent very good and have missed a lot of deep endo. IT's really imporatnt to have had an MRI or good TV internal scan before having the lap. Personally I had ablation and it helped for two years with the pain but I think the surgeon wasn't very good and he completely missed alot of the endo.I had excision 3 years later and it just improved the pain slightly and again the surgeon missed most of the endo, but he did this by choice feeling it was a risky op he didn't feel qualified for.
The pain is now worse than ever and all the surgeons I have seen say they won't opertae because I have so much scarring from the previous two ops. So my point would be look into the surgeons experience and speciality very carefully, get a good scan and only go to a surgeon who is really good. In that case excision might really help at least fora few years. The biigest predictor of whether it willc ome back is whether you have your ovaries out, that seems statisically to really reduce the chnce of regrowth.
I had my first excision lap in oct/20 and my symptoms started again in July/21. Had a second excision + unilateral oophorectomy in May/22 and in July/22 (yes, this quick) I was in hospital again and currently in the waiting list for my third lap.
Unfortunately it can grow this quick, but also at this point we can never guarantee all the lesions are/were removed. There is always a question in my head - did it grow back this quick or was it just not removed properly and it is now flaring up?
I hope you can get the answers you need and the best treatment for your case!!
